The Child Center’s History
We serve children who have mental health disorders and issues including trauma; emotional, physical and/or sexual abuse; Bi-Polar Disorder; loss of a parent; Attachment Disorder; psychotic disorders; depression; Obsessive Compulsive Disorder; thoughts of or suicide attempts; aggressive and explosive behaviors; low self-esteem; and autism. When a child receive services, their family is also involved in family therapy.
The Child Center’s first location was 18th and Alder by the University of Oregon, and served six children in Day Treatment and about a dozen in Psychiatric Day Treatment. We now have 115 full and part time employees, and served 1,737 children and their families in 2017.
